General Conference away from Utah!

You wouldn't think it would be to different with Conference and the LDS religion being the same around the world, but when you have grown up your whole life spending General Conference weekends with family and friends it has quite a different feel. Plus the weather is so different down here it doesn't even feel like fall. Outside of Utah you have a few different ways of watching or listening to Conference. You may either go to the Stake Center and watch on a big screen, watch it on the television if you have the right channels, watch or listen to it on the internet, or go to somebody's home who has the right channels to watch it. Drew and I decided to try and stay in the comfort of our home and see if we could get in on the internet. It is quite the site with the two of us either laying on the bed with the computer on top of the television or huddled around the computer in the front room trying to hear as our AC blows loudly, also moving it around trying to keep internet connection. When we finally get settled with a good connection and listening to the inspired words of our Prophet and leaders it hits you that you are not in Utah anymore. Family is far away, it is just the two of us, and you feel alone. As soon as I was feeling these things, the wonderful prophet starts talking about change. If you didn't hear it, read it or watch it again soon. I thought of all of our family back in Utah and how we miss them and how they miss us. But like the Prophet said, not his words exactly, but to look ahead and live in today, make a difference today, and look forward. Joy in the Journey. We are headed back to Utah next weekend and we are so excited to see family and spend a little time with them. I am so grateful for General Conference and for the guidance and direction it gives you through the inspired words of our leaders. I hope everyone had a great weekend and Family here we come!!!

Somehow I totally missed the last two posts you did! Aren't thieves rotten? Sorry about your bad weekend a week ago. But conference was awesome, wasn't it? I bet it will be a good experience to live outside of Utah. I'll probably always live in "the bubble."

Conference makes me homesick too. I want to go home everytime I see the pictures of Temple Square. I'm grateful we can watch it on the Internet, too.

This was my first conference weekend outside of Utah as well and I got homesick as well. Mostly when the choir started to sing and I saw all the familiar faces.

I know you guys will be pretty busy next weekend with your family...but we are planning a little get together at Rosanne's house on Saturday night around 8:00. Even T-Bone is coming. We would love to see you if you can make it!

Wasn't conference great? I also loved Pres. Monson's talk about change- since we're going through a fair bit if it, too, it made me "chin up", so to speak.
Make sure to call when you're here, even if we can only see you for a little bit! Miss you guys!

Hey guys! It's Rosanne. Looks like you guys are having fun in Cali! Also, Sarah I saw your picture and I got my haircut a few weeks ago and we apparently have the same cut, bangs, length and all. Cute!
